New Job and New Life

Well I am on my fourth week at a new job as a RN. It is definitely different than what I expected. I am not doing a whole lot of patient care, but I am learning a lot about the GI system. I have been working 3 days a week, but over the next couple of weeks I will be upping my hours to 5 days a week. The medical assistant that is working with me is leaving for another position. It should be an interesting transition.

I have also applied for my Georgia License and am waiting on the state to "get with it" so that I can apply for positions that are a little closer to home.

I am loving being a RN. It is keeping me busy and right now the position I am filling is giving me a little "mad" money. LOL!!

I am still going to the gym as much as possible and I have started running. I have managed to run a mile straight without stopping. I am working on adding to that mile over the next year so that I can participate in the Mini-Marathon in Disney next March. We will see how that goes. The road to Hell is paved with good intentions and all...HAHAHA.

Spring break is next week and Mom and Don are taking the kids to the space museum in Huntsville. That should be fun. I just hate that I won't be there to see it with them, but I guess as I start this new chapter in my life as a working mom I will miss a few trips with the kids.

I hope all is well in everyone's world and I will update as soon as there is something to update.

New Year and New Me!!

It has been an extremely long time since I have posted anything here. Dad said the other day that he had checked in and I hadn't posted anything new. I have been posting lots on Facebook, but I know that family doesn't check there since they aren't members. LOL!! I think it is too much for dad and mom. Anyway, 2010 promises to be a GREAT year. It is going to be a year of BIG changes for our family. First, I have graduated nursing school. As of December 11, 2009 I am a college graduate. I have my Associate Degree in Science with an emphasis on Nursing (ASN). I am so blessed that God allowed me to finish this process, granted it was stressful and it took a lot of sacrifices on behalf of me and my family, but we all made it through a little worse for wear. Next, I have to take my nursing licensure exam. I don't have a date yet, but it should be coming. I had a job interview Monday at NICU in Chattanooga. It went very well. They called about an hour after I left and asked me for background check and employment verification permission. I filled out the electronic forms and submitted them. There isn't anything hinky in my past so that shouldn't be any problems. If I pass my boards, I am pretty sure that I will be working in the NICU soon. I am soooo excited that this is a new page in my life. I have always wanted to work in NICU. I know it isn't fun and games and that everyday is life and death in the unit, but I hope that I am a light in the darkness for the babies and the parents that I come into contact with.

I know God has a plan for me and for my family. I also know that God will bless me and my decisions as I travel this road. I hope to keep updating more regularly and keeping everyone up to date as to what is going on in my/our lives.
